RGE of the Higgs mass, vacuum stability and the hierarchy problem    [PDF]

Li-gong Bian
Renormalization group equation (RGE) of the Higgs mass up to one-loop order is derived in $R_\xi$ gauge with dimensional regularization method (DREG) base on MS (or $\bar{\rm{MS}}$) scheme. Hierarchy problem, which is shown to gauge independent, survives only in two dimension not our four dimension. Scale-dependent properties of the Higgs mass and scalar quartic coupling are investigated, vacuum stability arguments discussed in literatures are not approciated enough, since the RGE of the Higgs mass is not solved together with renormalization group equation (RGEs) of all international couplings of the SM. Constraints on the SM given by vacuum stability results will be modified slightly and one more bound on the SM is given.
