Neutrino Mixing: Perturbation, Parameterization and Trimaximal-Cabibbo
Mixing

Recent experimental results on neutrino mixing give a clear signal indicating the deviation from several extensively studied mixing patterns including tri-bimaximal and bimaximal neutrino mixing. In this paper we discuss the parameterization of neutrino mixing by the corrections or perturbations to the leading order mixing matrix. A simple method to construct perturbed mixing matrices and the application to tri-bimaximal mixing are discussed. We show that mixing matrices similar to tri-bimaximal-Cabibbo mixing can be constructed by straightforward choices of perturbation parameters. To improve the fit to the experimental data, we impose an empirical relation from which a two-parameter trimaximal-like mixing matrix can be derived without making a particular choice of perturbation parameters, which predicts an atmospheric mixing angle that is in very good agreement with the mixing data. Its theoretical explanation and implications are discussed. A similar mixing matrix which leads to a nearly maximal atmospheric mixing angle is also presented.
